Majority of Kentucky Residents Support Smoke-Free Law

On Monday, the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky released a poll that show 66% of Kentucky adults favor a statewide smoke-free law while only 29% oppose it.

The poll asked, “Would you favor or oppose a state law in Kentucky that would prohibit smoking in most public places, including workplaces, public buildings, offices, restaurants, and bars?”

Twenty-six states and the District of Columbia have laws that prohibit smoking in public places such as workplaces, restaurants, and bars. Kentucky currently does not have such a law.

Those who have never smoked or are former smokers are the strongest supporters of a smoke-free law.

The poll also shows that 65% of western Kentucky residents are in support of a state law.
